Faking the 3D look using corelDRAW (Part 3) - by 3dcoreldraw Team

In this part 3, we continue adding the finishing touches to the vase and 3d ball.

Here we have to add more glossy effect to the vase. Use the "Freehand Tool" and the "Shape tool" to draw the shape in (Fig. 45) and add the "Interactive Drop shadow Effect" (Fig. 44). Remove the outline and place the object behind the vase so that only the glossy shadowy effect will show at the edge of the vase (Fig. 45).

Fig. 48, Fig. 49 and Fig. 50 are not available due to numbering oversight. The steps are complete though.

Let's put some shadow where the vase sits. Draw the shape in (Fig. 51) at the bottom of the vase and add the "Interactive Transparency Tool" linear top-down effect (Fig. 52). The bottom of your vase should look like (Fig. 53). Add the "Interactive Drop Shadow Tool" effect as in (Fig. 54).

Add another smaller shape colored yellow and apply the "Interactive Transparency Tool" linear top-down effect. Remember to remove all outlines.

Now you must order the smaller yellow shape behind the vase (Fig. 57). Draw the shape in (Fig. 58) and color it "Black" and then apply the "Interactive Drop Shadow Tool" with the color 50% black.

Draw any icon of your choice (Fig. 60). Make duplicate copy, and place the darker one over the white one, so that it looks a bit like engravement (Fig. 61).

Let's touch a bit on the 3d ball. Duplicate the 3d ball without the shadow and mirror it downwards (Fig. 62). Apply the "Interactive Transparency Tool" from top to bottom of the mirrored 3d ball (Fig. 63). Duplicate your vase, reduce the size and place it inside the 3d ball as in (Fig. 64). Add "Interactive drop shadow Tool" effect with shadow color light yellow, to soften the edges of the reflected vase on the 3d ball (Fig. 65). Draw a shape below the vase within the 3d ball (Fig. 66) remove the outline, color it "Yellow" add the "Interactive Drop shadow Tool" effect with "Yellow" shadow color (Fig. 67).

Your 3d ball is now completely glossy and reflecting the environment and objects around it (Fig. 68).
